AMALAS BLADE #1 page21 process. by TheWoodenKing AMALAS BLADE #1 page21 process. by TheWoodenKing
With Amala's Blade #1 out since Wednesday, i find it odd that some people are having a tough time securing a copy since they are selling out in various shops very quickly!

So I thought to post a little making-of process shot of page 21 where Amala has a chat with Rh'eems the Pirate from the zero issue. I love drawing this guy :)

Everything is pretty straight forward when working digital, you draw your layouts, then "ink" them, then colour them. The great thing is that you can make changes on the spot as you can see i changes Amala's whole head in the colouring stage. The only thing that i regret is that i dont have any original pages of this comic :/ i'll be kicking myself in the future!

Anywho...
Hope you all enjoy Amala's Blade by myself and Steve Horton, published by my favorite company Dark Horse comics! look for issue #2 coming out on May the 29th!

thanks for posting this, really enjoyed the issue and it's great seeing your process. I just managed to get one of the last remaining copies at my LCS in Belfast, looking forward to issue #2 now at the end of the month

As always, very Cool!
Love seeing the process! Are you using photoshop for all aspects of the art?
I also like having the finished original product at hand; even love the feel of velum board beneath my palm and the slide of a slick ink across the surface.
Guess I'm old school :)

Yeah it was a choice i had to make and to shave off extra hours to meet deadlines i went full digital. I would love to have some original too in future so i'll have to find a middle ground or choose over to draw the covers my hands :)
